CHAPTER 13
MON Profile
13.1 Overview
This screen allows you to set up monitor mode configurations that allow your
connected APs to scan for other wireless devices in the vicinity. Once detected,
you can use the MON Mode screen (Chapter 9 on page 111) to classify them as
either rogue or friendly and then manage them accordingly.
13.1.1 What You Can Do in this Chapter
The MON Profile screen (Section 13.2 on page 166) creates preset monitor mode
configurations that can be used by the APs.
13.1.2 What You Need To Know
The following terms and concepts may help as you read this chapter.

device is explicitly triggered to scan a specified channel or number of channels for
other wireless devices broadcasting on the 802.11 frequencies by sending probe
request frames.
Passive Scan
A passive scan is performed when an 802.11-compatible monitoring device is set
to periodically listen to a specified channel or number of channels for other
